EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) Todd Lickliter was introduced to the Evansville media on Wednesday as the Aces new head coach.

Lickliter replaces Walter McCarty, who was fired on Tuesday.

It’s Lickliter’s second stint on the UE bench. He was an assistant coach last season, and then retired over the summer due to health reasons.

The former Butler and Iowa head coach says he is excited about his future with the Aces. “I appreciate the opportunity, but I’m really excited about the future and what we’re going to build. Um, I’m very fortunate, I think I told the guys, I’m the luckiest man you know and I don’t know who you know, you know? I know I’m really fortunate. I’ve had some great experiences in my time. We can recreate an incredible environment.”

Athletic directer Mark Spencer adds, “Our negotiation was, do you want it? Yep. Great! It was pretty close so there wasn’t a lot of back and forth. It was more about wanting to make sure he was healthy, he had the drive, that he wanted to be here for the right reasons and he wanted to know what my expectations were.”
