USI women capture first GLVC soccer title

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – University of Southern Indiana’s women’s soccer team captured their first GLVC title with a victory over McKendree on Sunday afternoon.

USI won 4-3 in penalty kicks after battling to a 0-0 draw after two overtimes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship game.

The victory gives the lady Screaming Eagles an automatic bid to the NCAA II Tournament. This will be their first bid to the tourney since 1998 when they advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Ashland University.

Maggie Winter had the deciding penalty kick to lift Southern Indiana to victory.
