Wabash Valley stays powerful at the plate

MT. CARMEL, Ill. (WEHT) – Wabash Valley College is considered the best baseball team in junior college with a 52-2 record. The Warriors credit some of their success to their explosive offense.

WVC leads the nation in nearly every offensive category. They are number one in runs, hits and home runs. Cael Baker believes their hitting is superb.

“I feel like, to me, we are the best two strike hitting team in the nation, like if you get us two strikes and two outs we are going to, do everything we can to put the ball in play and make something happen.”

It helps when leadoff hitter, Noah Myers, leads the country in stolen bases. Plus, slugger, Cael Baker, leads the nation in hits, home runs and R-B-I’s. The head coach agrees that Myers is an integral part to scoring early.

“It all starts with our leadoff guy, giving us a chance to see what kind of pitches we can hit, what the pitcher is all about, and getting on base to set the table.”

The Warriors hope their efficient scoring leads to a national championship.

“Obviously you dream about those sort of things, but bottom line is you have to take the good with the bad as well.”

“Just keep playing our baseball, how we have been doing it all year and we will be successful.”
