EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) After holding on to win their first game of the season Saturday night at Ford Center, the Aces will now hit the road.
Evansville will travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky.
It will be a homecoming of sorts for Evansville head coach Walter McCarty who starred for the Wildcats in the mid-90’s. McCarty was a big part of the 1996 UK National Championship team.
McCarty says he isn’t sure what he will feel when he steps onto the Rupp Arena floor, “It’s going to be fun to see some old teammates and people that are very dear to me. So we’ll see, we’ll see. I really don’t know right now. I don’t know.”
Kentucky head coach John Calipari adds, “I’m always happy when we can brings guys back here and bring them in coaching teams. We have done it before, and I think it’s a great thing. You just want them to know, in Walter’s case, you won a national title here, you are part of the history of this program. And I think our fans, he will feel that coming back.”
