Equifax breach: Here’s what to do


(WEHT) – Following Equifax’s data breach that exposed the social security numbers of millions of people, the company will spend millions to pay back those affected.

Click here to find out if your information was exposed.

From there you will enter your name and the last six digits of your social security number. You will know instantly if your information was exposed.

If your information was exposed, click here to file a claim online.

From that site, you will also have to option to download a hard copy claim form and mail it to:

Seattle, WA 98111-9418

or you can contact the Settlement Administrator to have a claim form mailed to you.

Please note that none of these benefits will be distributed or available until the settlement is finally approved by the Court.

Once the settlement is finally approved, the benefits offered are, free credit monitoring or a cash payment of $125; free identity restoration services; and you also may be eligible for other cash payments up to $20,000 for time spent remedying the fraud, out-of-pocket losses resulting from the breach, and up to 25% of the cost of Equifax credit or identity monitoring products that you paid for in the year before the data breach was announced.
