Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra to perform Nov. 23rd for Fall Concert

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestras (EPYO and EPYO II) will present their Fall Concert later this month.

It will be held at the Victory Theatre on Saturday, November 23rd at 7PM.

EPYO II consists of Tri-State students in grades sixth through eighth and EPYO includes Tri-State students in 9th through 12th grades.

Students are from all over the Tri-State region, including Jasper, Princeton, Ft. Branch, Tell City and Owensboro.

EPYOII, under the direction of Lee Veazey, will begin the concert with various selections from Bach, Copland, Schubert, Gliere, and “Light Cavalry Overture” by Franz von Suppe.

Under the baton of conductor Brian Onderdonk, EPYO will begin the second half of the program with a picturesque program featuring famous classical music used in opera and film, including Verdi’s tumultuous overture from La Forza del Destino, followed by “In the Steppes of Central Asia” by Russian composer Alexander Borodin.

The program will finish with music from the film score “Lt. Kije” by Sergei Prokofiev, one of the famous composer’s most beloved and best recognized works.

Doors will open an hour before the concert.

The Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestras offer performance opportunities for high school and middle school students in the Tri-State area.
