EVANSVILLE, In. (WEHT) — Everyone expects roses and candy on Valentines Day, but if you’re really looking for something unexpected or different on Friday, we’ve got you covered.
But, not everyone has love for Valentine’s Day, which is why you’ll find an annual Anti-Valentine’s Day party at North Park library.
“We’ve got snarky coloring sheets, we’ve got a BFF matching game, we’ve got anti-Valentine card-making,” said EVPL experience manager Jennifer Darnell. “We’ve got some kind of cross-stitch if you just want stab something a bunch of times, it’s super therapeutic.”
If you really want to feel love’s sting, there’s another unconventional option: Valentine’s ink.
“I kind of try be unique, I try to think of things that I personally thought were funny.”
Sophie Whaley is a tattoo artist at Nightingale Tattoo studio in Evansville, and she’s designed a unique — and edgy — line of tattoos for February 14th.
“People are so stoked. I’ve have a lot of reaction to the $30 tattoos, which is the first year I’m doing anything like this.
If spunky messages or new ink isn’t quite your thing….there’s always carbs.
This year, the tried-and-true “unconventional” Valentine’s destination White Castle is actually showing you to your seat.
“We’re going to have a hostess here, and we have a waiter and waitress. We’re offering shrimp, and any and everything on the menu board,” says Evansville White Castle manager Ricky Joiner. He says they already have about 45 reservations.
Another hot commodity this Valentine’s Day? Pound Puppies.
We checked with local Target stores, and the large versions are already sold out.
But no matter what you do, don’t forget your #1.
“A little self-love on this anti-Valentines Day.”
