EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Have you ever wanted to say “thank you for my freedom”?

Now, you have a chance to do just that.

Honor Flight’s Operation Mail Call is a personal way to let veterans know that their sacrifices have not been forgotten.

You can write letters, send cards, or even color a picture for these veterans.

The envelopes should remain unsealed.

There will be several locations around Evansville where you can drop off your letters, cards, or pictures. Those locations include: Golden Corral on Evansville’s eastside, all EVPL locations, Mission BBQ on Green River Road and The American Red Cross on South Stockwell Rd.

Letters can be dropped off at these sites after Aug. 31st.

Veterans will return from visiting memorials and museums at our nation’s capital on Oct. 5th, which is when they’ll receive and open the letters.

Make sure to put the veterans full name on the outside of the envelope in the lower left corner, or just use, “Dear Veteran” if you don’t know the veterans name.

Do not date your letter.

You can be as creative as you want.

If you would like to mail you letter, you can also do that.

Here’s the address:

P.O. Box 8234
Evansville, IN 47716
