Jasper, Ind. (WEHT) – Foodies in the community will have a new option available to them.

During the Wednesday evening, City Council meeting the Council approved Mobile Food Vendors for the City of Jasper.

The ordinance will go into effect on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

Mayor Vonderheide believes the ordinance is going to provide the community access to diverse food sources.

He also mentioned that food trucks are a low-cost entry into the local scene. “If they establish themselves well with a food truck, then they sometimes have a brick and mortar, and they’ll invest in the community – especially if the market’s there for them.”

For those interested in being a vendor a few steps need to take place before setting up.

Vendors will need to obtain a mobile food permit from the Dubois County Health Department and the City of Jasper.

The annual Touch-A-Truck event will take place on Saturday, October 19th.

The event will be from 11 am – 1 pm at Schroeder Complex.
