OAKLAND CITY, Ind. (WEHT) — Beginning March 23, Oakland City University will operate with essential staff and remote work, and campus offices will be closed to the public.
The university says they believe the action is warranted to sustain the mental well-being of employees and to support those with childcare concerns during this global pandemic.
OCU plans to resume normal staff operations April 6.
Essential-designated staff will be expected to come to campus to work, while those designated as remote will need to complete their tasks from off-campus, however, they may be required to come to campus for some tasks.
Residence halls and food services will remain open to students who choose to remain on campus. OCU’s scheduled spring break is March 21-29, and students will be relocated to individual rooms for the rest of the semester when they return.
Food service will offer take out for students during the two week essential/remote period, and during Spring Break there will be a brunch and dinner option.
OCU says all employees will be paid for the hours they would have normally worked.
