Sesame Street celebrates 50 years


(CNN) — The beloved educational children’s program, Sesame Street, launched November 10th, 1969.

It was initially broadcast with the goal to prepare less advantaged kids for school. Today, the show is translated in more than 70 languages and airs in more than 150 countries.

The Empire State Building was lit up in green and yellow for
Sesame Street’s 50th anniversary.

In New York, the Empire State Building was lit up like big bird, with green and yellow lights to celebrate the show’s big anniversary.
