USA women’s World Cup win empowers Tri-State soccer community


NEWBURGH, Ind. (WEHT) – The United State’s women’s national team has done some incredible things in the past and now more. They are back-to-back World Cup champs. Abby Price explains this a big moment.

“All of us are just here anticipating it, they’ve worked so hard for it, they deserve the win. “

The teams success on the pitch is now making an even bigger impact off of it. Allis Gorman describes the momentum as good for women sports.

“It’s kinda crazy because usually people focus more on the men’s sports, and soccer is not like really big, but when the World Cup comes around everyone gets so excited. it’s really, it’s like great. “

While, Scott Ashby says this type of high profile play is good for younger generations to replicate.

“Oh I think it means a great deal, the more programs that we get started for these young women, I get emotional but I mean she loves this and I love this and just to see them get involved it’s great. Just the will to play, the will to get out there and change the world you know, get out there and show that we can do this, and this is something that they’ve taken to heart and obviously you’ve got so many out here playing, it’s only gonna get better. “

This is the United State’s fourth overall World Cup final victory.
