MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEHT) -- Members of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars hosted their 60th Veterans Day Parade on Madisonville's Main Street on Sunday afternoon.

While 90 floats paraded down Main Street, plenty of the attendees could be heard saying "thank you" to those who sacrificed in the Armed Forces.

One veteran from the American Legion says an important part of the parade over 60 years is picking a theme, and the veterans chose "Remember Those That Came Before Us."

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Habitat for Humanity of Evansville announced a partnership with Ascension St. Vincent on Monday.

The hospital system will donate $40,000 a year to help build homes with “Catholics for Habitat” and help support the Habitat projects. Some of these projects are ongoing on Taylor Avenue.

With Ascension St. Vincent’s help, Catholics for Habitat will build two homes in a year, instead of just one.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- "Feed Evansville" and the city's commission on food security broke ground breaking on a community kitchen at the C.K. Newsome Center on Monday.

The city leaders and activists say a new community kitchen will help meet a food access need in the region.

"We have over 40% of our neighborhoods in food deserts, according to the USDA," said Lisa Vaughan from Feed Evansville. "We have over 20% of our neighborhood residents experiencing food security, and -- I always say -- those are the ones that report it."
